Lee Xiancong, Jenson is a Director in
the Litigation Department of the firm.
Jenson specialises in civil, commercial
and criminal litigation work. He obtained his LLB. (Hons 2nd
upper) at the University of Leicester in 2007. During his time at Leicester, he
served as the president of the Singapore Society. He had to manage issues relating to the
Singaporean community in Leicester and ensured that the juniors had a smooth
transition when they first arrived in UK.
Upon his graduation, he commenced his
pupillage and was an associate with one of the biggest law firms in Singapore
specialising in banking syndicated loans. In 2009, he decided to pursue
his interest in litigation and joined Engelin Teh, a senior counsel. Within a short span of less than 5 years, he was
made a Director of the firm in 2013.
In the course of his legal practice, he
has represented clients in a variety of litigation matters, including medical
negligence, contractual claims, fraud, construction disputes, enforcement of
debts, defamation and personal injury claims.
He has also given legal advice in
relation to the setting aside and variation of Mareva Injunctions, claims against
banks and relationship managers, claims against law firms for acts of
negligence, shareholder disputes, structuring of loan agreements, probate
matters, tenancy agreements and employment contracts.
With regard to his criminal litigation
matters, he has advised and defended clients accused of bribery, fraud,
corruption, cheating, forgery, fraudulent usage of credit cards, overstaying,
drink driving, tampering with electricity / gas valves etc.
Family and Matrimonial litigation
He has also dealt in various aspects of
family and matrimonial law, where he had acted for parties in contentious
divorce proceedings. He has also assisted clients frequently in mediation
sessions in resolving the disputes amicably.
Some of Jenson’s notable litigation
cases include the following:
- Represented an individual in claiming
over SGD8 million against a local hospital in a medical negligence case where
she lost all 4 limbs.
- Represented the estate of a lady who
passed away as a result of medical negligence by a local hospital.
- Represented clients in structuring a
USD2 billion deal in relation to the sale of a gold and copper mine.
- Defended an ex-insurer against an
Indonesian individual’s claims of over US$5 million against her arising out of
alleged fraudulent insurance policies.
- Represented an individual in her claims
of approximately SGD2 million against her former accountants and lawyers for
- Represented an individual in claims
amounting to over SGD5 million against her family members in relation to an
estate dispute where forensic experts were engaged to conduct forensic analysis
of the signatures on the will of the testator.
- Represented an individual in his claim against
the insurers for substantial damages as a result of very serious injuries
arising out of a car accident.
- Represented an individual in his
substantial claims against a company for fraudulent usage of his monies.
- Represented developers in construction
Jenson is an accredited mediator with
the Singapore Mediation Centre. Although a litigator, he has a strong passion
in mediating matters and assisting parties in resolving their disputes
expeditiously and amicably.
He is also a mediator under the
Singapore International Mediation Institute.
During his free time, Jenson writes regularly and has recently wrote for
Lexis Nexis for their newly launched Lexis Practical Guidance, where he was the author for the Case
